My first 2x2x2 puzzle cube was one made by Rubik’s. Like most of these cubes, the Chinese seem to make ’em better. This cube by East Sheen is very smooth and feels very well made. It’s not as stiff as the Rubiks 2x2x2 too. I bought a white and black one to add to my collection. These can be had on eBay for around $8.
It measures about 5cm x 5cm x 5cm. The stickers are very vibrant in colour and shiny. The face colours for the black cube are white, yellow, pink, green, blue, and red. For the white cube, it’s black, red, yellow, pink, blue, and green. Unlike some of the cubes I have where the red kinda looks like orange or green. This is a nice contrast of colours.

This cube responds very well to lube. In fact, too much lube and it makes the thing almost spin by breathing on it. I kid not. So be careful with the amount of Jig-a-loo you add. Just a quick spritz inside and that’s it. In fact, if I even keep one un-lubed. I had one where I put too much lube and it overshoots a lot. It felt very loose. I think you can either put a very small amount of lube or leave it stock. Eventually, it’ll spin smoother with just a break-in period.

To get to the in-ards, find a corner like this and use a small screwdriver to push the tab to release a cubelet. You can then spray in your favourite lubricant.
The 2x2x2 is a fun cube that can be solved very quickly with practice. I keep one at my desk to work with while I think. A nice little finger toy.
